I wanted to start a place where people could tell some stories about Jimmy - let's here about some of the adventures you might have shared with him.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Jimmy. Here he is with that, "thin lipped grin" enjoying every second!

It was a very hot day in the Wichita's, 4th of July weekend. We chased the shade though and had a blast. Jimmy, Chris and I climbed like monkeys that weekend. We were on Large Corner Girdle, by the time we rapped down, we were all covered in lichen and dirt, we all had big smiles on our faces! Jimmy always liked knocking everyones socks off!

I remember as we were heading out, he hiked back up top to grab some other gear. I turned and looked up as he sat on the edge, and hollered out "Woooo-hoooo!"  That was Jimmy, having a blast in his own backyard...the Wichitas!

I miss you Jimmy Ray,
Andrea

Here are a few pics of Jimmy in the Black Canyon. Just one of the many areas he loved.

I’ve known Jimmy for around 15 years now, and have always marveled over his continuous enthusiasm.  I didn’t know anyone could get so excited because it was their turn to lead a pitch, then he would get just as excited, because it was his partner’s turn to lead.  His friendly, spirited, and funny personality is etched forever in my memory, and I feel lucky to have shared a friendship with him.  For those who shared big adventures with Jimmy, I know those had to be amazing experiences with an awesome person.  Although not my own experience, I remember Terry Andrews telling me about the time he and Jimmy had a open bivy on the West Face of El Capitan, Terry said he was really cold, so he got really close to his wall climbing partner, and that Jimmy put off an amazing amount of heat.  I’m going to miss Jimmy Ray and his truely happy smile.

I just happened to stumble upon these 'footprints' of Jimmy's on the internet, something to make you wink and weep at the same time:
