NEW REFUGE AND QUARTZ CLIMBING BROCHURES
Thanks to a $3500 conservation grant from the Access Fund, the WMCC is in the process of designing new climbing informational brochures for the Refuge and Quartz. Ryan Ray (WMCC Board member and North Texas Regional Coordinator for the Access Fund) is working on the designs and printing. Both should be available to the public later this Summer.
QUARTZ MOUNTAIN PRIMITEVE TRAILS PROJECT
Look for the finishing touches to the Quartz Mountain Primitive Trails Project to be in place at the Baldy Point Natural Area before the Quartz Fall Gathering this Fall. The Park has completed most of the trail work and installation of the new restroom facilities at the Baldy Point and Cedar Valley trailheads. Expect to see new informational kiosks and water supply faucets at both trailheads, and educational signage and trail markers along the trails when things are complete.
2005 SPRING FLING
Thanks to the perfect weather and a great organizational effort by Terry Andrews, Rebecca Knight, and Frank and Susan Lawrence, the 2005 Quartz Spring Fling was as good as it gets. About 50 people attended the event, with most everyone voicing their appreciation for the more traditional, laid-back atmosphere. Thanks to those who attended for making it a great gathering.
